COLOMBIA: THE NEXT VIETNAM?
[10-18-01]
A new 40-minute video on why US
involvement in Colombia is -
 | not mainly about drugs but about oil; |
 | not about counternarcotics but about
counterinsurgency; |
 | not about coca but but about US military expansion.
|
|

|
|
This scene from the video shows
some of the 100 delegates with Witness for Peace who
demonstrated in front of the U.S. Embassy in Bogota last March
23. |
Anne Barstow and Tom Driver have turned their slide
report on the Witness for Peace delegation of March 2001 into a video.
It documents -
 | life in a village built by refugees fleeing from
the US-sponsored poison spraying of farms; |
 | environmental damage of the spraying; |
 | the murderous attacks on Colombia's labor movement; |
 | interviews with mayors, legislators, human rights
workers, the military, campesinos, pastors, women's groups, and US
embassy personnel.
|
Learn how you can work to change US policy - policy
that is ineffective at controlling drug-addiction in the US and
harmful to Colombian families.
