Social Justice Biennial
Conference
January 13-16, 2005 |
| Coming soon to a desert near you - or
maybe not so near -
The Social
Justice Biennial Conference
Presbyterian Health, Education & Welfare Association (PHEWA)
in partnership with the Office of Women's Advocacy.
Do You Not Perceive It?
January 13-16, 2005
Tucson, Arizona
In the raw landscape of the Sonora Desert, we come
together to discover the new reality that God is already bringing about. In
the midst of the barrenness of our own lives, we offer refreshing drink and
the opportunity to learn how to find that sustenance in our own landscapes.
From the borderlands of Tucson explore the border places
in our lives and work, especially as they relate to:
· Economic Justice
· Violence against Women
· Border Issues and Human Rights
· The Broad Spectrum of Ministry carried out by PHEWA
Highlights of the event include:
· Keynote presentations by John Fife, Heidi Neumark, Rita
Nakashima Brock, Belden Lane and Eileen Lindner
· Over 30 inspiring workshops (including some in Spanish)
· Young Adult Caucus
· Multi-cultural Ministry
· Pre-conference trip to the border with BorderLinks
· A Celebration of Access and the Arts
· Opportunity to be nourished by worship, music, fellowship and sharing
For more information,
go to the PHEWA website.
For questions or if you need a conference registration
booklet mailed to you, call (888) 728-7228 x8100 or email

Secretary/Communicator, has created a Facebook page where
Witherspoon members and others can gather to exchange news and

Voices of Sophia blog
Heather Reichgott, who has created
this new blog for Voices of Sophia, introduces it:
After fifteen years of scholarship
and activism, Voices of Sophia presents a blog. Here, we present the
voices of feminist theologians of all stripes: scholars, clergy,
students, exiles, missionaries, workers, thinkers, artists, lovers
and devotees, from many parts of the world, all children of the God
in whose image women are made. .... This blog seeks to glorify God
through prayer, work, art, and intellectual reflection. Through
articles and ensuing discussion we hope to become an active and
thoughtful community. |
