Theological Task Force invites all for
a pre-GA conference |
| The Theological Task Force on Peace, Unity, and Purity of
the Church has issued its preliminary report for the 216th General Assembly,
and has sent a letter to groups like the Witherspoon Society (and many
others, no doubt) about their plans
for a Pre-GA conference where the Task Force will share what they have
accomplished, and receive opinions about their future directions. The
conference,
Seeking Peace, Unity, and Purity: The Theological Task Force at
Mid-Point, will take place Saturday morning, June 26, from 8
a.m.-noon. Below is the full text of their letter. |

Witherspoon Society
Kent Winters-Hazelton,
President
Dear Kent,
Last year at General Assembly representatives of the Theological Task
Force met with the Witherspoon Society to update you on what the Task
Force on Peace, Unity, and Purity was doing and to engage in dialog with
you. This year we invite all your members attending GA to our Pre-GA
conference where you can learn what we have accomplished, and we can get
your opinions about our future directions. The conference,
Seeking Peace, Unity, and Purity: The Theological Task Force at
Mid-Point, will take place Saturday morning, June 26, from 8
a.m.-noon. At this conference we will be presenting the attached
Preliminary Report and explain its biblical foundations, giving you an
accurate basis for considering our work. The GA registration
material contains a form for enrolling.
Also at General Assembly we
invite you to one of the previews of our second video on Christology,
featuring Mark Achtemeier, which will take place Sunday, June
27 from 3-5 PM and Wednesday, June
30 from 9:30-11:30 AM. Additional
resources, a Powerpoint presentation, and a
bibliography are available on our website:
www.pcusa/peaceunitypurity.
We on the Theological Task Force are trying
to keep the church informed of our progress and to offer opportunities and
resource materials for presbyteries and congregations to share with us in
our work for the church. We welcome your participation with us.
Yours in Christ,
Gary Demarest
Jenny Stoner, Co-Moderators

Voices of Sophia blog
Heather Reichgott, who has created
this new blog for Voices of Sophia, introduces it:
After fifteen years of scholarship
and activism, Voices of Sophia presents a blog. Here, we present the
voices of feminist theologians of all stripes: scholars, clergy,
students, exiles, missionaries, workers, thinkers, artists, lovers
and devotees, from many parts of the world, all children of the God
in whose image women are made. .... This blog seeks to glorify God
through prayer, work, art, and intellectual reflection. Through
articles and ensuing discussion we hope to become an active and
thoughtful community. |
