Call Congress on budget cuts |
|
Urgent Alert
from the Washington
Office of the PC(USA)
[4-11-05]
Stop the Cuts in Social Programs. Call-In
Day tomorrow – Tuesday April 12
Call
Your Senators and Representative on Tuesday, April 12:
Tell
Them, We'll pay our share in taxes, but we expect you to set the right
priorities when you spend those dollars!
As Tax
Day approaches, Americans have good reason to tell Congress how they think
their dollars should be spent. Congress will soon vote on a final budget
resolution, and they're considering proposals to cut billions from programs
that support poor children, working families, people with disabilities, and
the elderly. (See how these cuts will impact your state at
http://www.chn.org/issues/opportunityforall/statefactsheets.html.) The
outcome of the budget proceedings might come down to three crucial minutes.
That's
how long it will take to call your members of Congress.
Call
Your Representative and Senators on Tuesday, April 12!
Tell
them: We'll pay our share in taxes, but we expect you to set the right
priorities when you spend those dollars! Tell them to oppose budget cuts in
basic programs like assistance for the elderly and disabled, the Earned
Income Tax Credit, Medicaid, foster care, TANF, child care, and food stamps.
