Retreat for LGBT
candidates for ministry |
|
Retreat for LGBT Presbyterian Inquirers and
Candidates
for Ministry of Word and Sacrament
[4-9-05]
Download Flier
Application Deadline: June 2, 2005.
Email or Call 917-441-8638 for
application.
All those in the “in-care-process” are invited
to a retreat from June 23–26, 2005 in northern New Jersey
Why do we need to gather?
 |
Hear each other’s stories in a safe space
and learn from our varied experiences. |
 |
Consult with legal gurus and pastoral care
providers from the welcoming movement around self-care, strategy, witness
and resources. |
 |
Worship to inspire spiritual strength for
the journey. |
 |
Form a mutually supportive community of LGBT
candidates for the ministry. |
 |
Find our place in changing the church!
|
It is our hope to create a safe place for all
candidates to feel comfortable, no matter how “out”
they can be due to their circumstance. The retreat will be facilitated by
Eily Marlow and the Rev.
Mieke Vandersall, two lesbian women recently through the ordination process.
There will be an
opportunity on Sunday to march with other Presbyterians in the New York City
Pride Parade.
Retreat cost is $200. In order to gather all
LGBT inquirers and candidates, very substantial
scholarships are available to all who are in need. We gratefully thank
supportive organizations
for their commitment to the participants and their financial support in
helping us gather.
If you know someone who is in the “in-care
process” or if you yourself are an inquirer or candi-date
and feel this retreat would be helpful for you, please call the confidential
voice mail of Eily
at 651-696-6738 or Mieke at 917-441-8638 or email us at
marlow@Macalester.edu or
mieke@presbyterianwelcome. org.

PVJ's
Facebook page
Mitch Trigger, PVJ's
Secretary/Communicator, has created a Facebook page where
Witherspoon members and others can gather to exchange news and
views. Mitch and a few others have posted bits of news, both
personal and organizational. But there’s room for more!
You can post your own news and views,
or initiate a conversation about a topic of interest to you. |

Voices of Sophia blog
Heather Reichgott, who has created
this new blog for Voices of Sophia, introduces it:
After fifteen years of scholarship
and activism, Voices of Sophia presents a blog. Here, we present the
voices of feminist theologians of all stripes: scholars, clergy,
students, exiles, missionaries, workers, thinkers, artists, lovers
and devotees, from many parts of the world, all children of the God
in whose image women are made. .... This blog seeks to glorify God
through prayer, work, art, and intellectual reflection. Through
articles and ensuing discussion we hope to become an active and
thoughtful community. |
