The First Annual National ASK Day was
observed on Monday, August 20th - and we missed it!
This announcement reached your WebWeaver too late
for inclusion on the web in time for today's observance, but we think
the idea is worth our attention for the long term, anyway.
Received from the Presbyterian Washington Office
[8/20/01]
You may have caught this announcement this morning on the Today
Show--- THE FIRST ANNUAL NATIONAL ASK DAY MONDAY, AUGUST 20TH!!
On ASK Day parents will be urged to go to www.AskingSavesKids.com
to sign the ASK Pledge, making the commitment to ASK if there is a gun
in the home before sending their children over to play. You can sign the
pledge now at AskingSavesKids.com!
Don't forget to tell your friends to do the same!
Be sure to catch the Today Show on Monday August 20th
where they will do a segment on ASK Day, including an in-studio
interview with Ellen Levine, Editor of Good Housekeeping Magazine
and interview with Ann Marie Crowell, the courageous mother of Brian
Crowell who was accidentally shot 4 years ago while playing at a
friend's house. You can read about it in the September issue of Good
Housekeeping Magazine, which features Ann Marie's story and a Call
To Action from Editor Ellen Levine, as well as our full page
advertisement.
Additional media around ASK Day include ads in Us
Weekly and Redbook; television across the country on CNN,
NY1, Court TV and local affiliates in CA, PA, MO, NC, UT, DC, TX, OK,
IL, MI and others; and radio on Clear Channel Communications in NY,
Philadelphia and Chicago. Look for ASK Day in the editorial section of Parents,
and Working Mother Magazines! ASK Day events are taking place
across the country, including major press conferences in New York and
Baltimore, and many local grassroots organizations, such as local PTA
chapters, are hosting ASK Day events, including pledge drives,
canvassing efforts, and ASK Day mailings.
Thanks for supporting PAX and helping to make ASK Day
a success!

After fifteen years of scholarship
and activism, Voices of Sophia presents a blog. Here, we present the
voices of feminist theologians of all stripes: scholars, clergy,
students, exiles, missionaries, workers, thinkers, artists, lovers
and devotees, from many parts of the world, all children of the God
in whose image women are made. .... This blog seeks to glorify God
through prayer, work, art, and intellectual reflection. Through
articles and ensuing discussion we hope to become an active and
thoughtful community. |
