Cuban seminary seeks Brueggemann
books
Witherspooner Gayl Knox, of Boone, NC,
has sent this note:
August 5, 2000
The Ecumenical Seminary in Matanzas, Cuba, is in need
of books by Walter Brueggemann. Any one out there who wishes to donate
such books please send them to me. I will be glad to arrange to have the
books sent to the Seminary.
I am in contact with The Rev. Dr. Ofelia Ortega
Suarez, Principal of the Evangelical Theological Seminary, and have
received this request from her. She is going to send me a list of other
books needed for the library.
She spoke at the Ecumenical conference in Louisville
earlier this year. Of the many interesting things she told us was that
the Seminary is bursting at the seams, with a long waiting list of
people wanting to attend. The library is inadequate for so large a
student population. Dr. Ortega also spoke enthusiastically of the
expanding opportunities for ecumenical work now going on in Cuba.
With the softening of Cuba/US relations, this is an
opportune time for the churches to work together, and for us to help in
the education of future Christian leaders.
I found her to be an exciting speaker / preacher. She
would like to have more opportunities to speak in the US. If you are
interested, I am sure she would like to talk with you.
Her address is:

this new blog for Voices of Sophia, introduces it:
After fifteen years of scholarship
and activism, Voices of Sophia presents a blog. Here, we present the
voices of feminist theologians of all stripes: scholars, clergy,
students, exiles, missionaries, workers, thinkers, artists, lovers
and devotees, from many parts of the world, all children of the God
in whose image women are made. .... This blog seeks to glorify God
through prayer, work, art, and intellectual reflection. Through
articles and ensuing discussion we hope to become an active and
thoughtful community. |
