A
prayer after GA
Dear God,
Well, that was a surprise. But who are we to be surprised by your
action?
Is this God's will
Is God up there watching us?
Is God in the midst of us?
Uh, Oh what now?
O God, you are the shepherd
and we know your voice
so why are we so hesitant to follow when you lead us to places of
comfort and reconciliation and peace?
Do we think we have the map when we are mostly not
even sure where we are going?
You have prepared us a meal in the presence of unknown
forces ... and we are afraid to put our heads down long enough to eat.
Keep us from dwelling in the valley of doubt because
there is no risk there.
Even if we wanted to ... you wouldn't let us ...
because ... you call us by name ... and we know your voice ...
so now we will follow you ...
wait wait here we come ...
What a surprise ... here we come!

Presbyterian Parish

A prayer for the
Assembly
[6-9-01]
O God, O God! we seek your blessing upon this gathered
body of Presbyterians who meet to discern your will for Your Church.
Remind us all that it is not 'my' church or 'our'
church or 'their' church ... but Yours ... when we are
led by your Spirit.
Open the ears of all to hear your call and grant us
the courage to act.
Help joy to be the prevailing blessing and the
opportunity we have as people richly blessed to be about Your
Work in the world sharing the Good News of your love for us in Jesus
Christ.
Be patient with us God, and help us to be patient with
one another.
Let us find ways to dance together and let the music
be yours ... as Miriam danced once across the Sea ... let us cross the
Sea of our misunderstandings of one another and dance. Move us in body
and spirit to Be In the world.
We give you thanks for promises redeemed and for your
presence in the midst of it all.
God abide with us ... Thanks be to God.
Bobbie McGarey, Parish Pastor, Southwest Oklahoma
Presbyterian Parish

Voices of Sophia blog
Heather Reichgott, who has created
this new blog for Voices of Sophia, introduces it:
After fifteen years of scholarship
and activism, Voices of Sophia presents a blog. Here, we present the
voices of feminist theologians of all stripes: scholars, clergy,
students, exiles, missionaries, workers, thinkers, artists, lovers
and devotees, from many parts of the world, all children of the God
in whose image women are made. .... This blog seeks to glorify God
through prayer, work, art, and intellectual reflection. Through
articles and ensuing discussion we hope to become an active and
thoughtful community. |
