Santa Fe Presbytery stands with
Moderator and Stated Clerk |
|
ON STANDING WITH
THE MODERATOR OF THE 214th GENERAL
ASSEMBLY
AND THE STATED CLERK
[2-14-03]
We, the members of The Presbytery of Santa Fe, stand with the Moderator of
the 214th General Assembly and the Stated Clerk during these times of
unprecedented pressure. We affirm the faith, integrity, wisdom and grace of
these two leaders during turbulent times in the Presbyterian Church
(U.S.A.). As members of the same body we share with them the struggle,
conflict and suffering of recent weeks.
We, the members of The Presbytery of Santa Fe, offer our
full support and encouragement to the Reverend Fahed Abu-Akel, the Moderator
of the 214th General Assembly, and the Reverend Clifton Kirkpatrick, Stated
Clerk of the General Assembly. We are confident that they have faithfully,
prayerfully and carefully carried out the requirements of the Constitution
of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in accordance with their respective
leadership offices and have encouraged their colleagues in the Office of the
General Assembly to do the same.
We, the members of The Presbytery of Santa Fe, grieve for
the brokenness we experience in the Body of Christ. Christ has called us
together to witness to God's love, grace and hope in a new realm of peace.
Specifically, we call upon those who seek to discredit the leadership of the
Moderator and Stated Clerk to cease and desist. We commit ourselves to the
guidance of the Holy Spirit and invite all parts of this body to seek
reconciliation as sisters and brothers in Christ.
Together we, the members of The Presbytery of Santa Fe,
desire to uphold the vision of the church, "The Church is called to be a
sign in and for the world of the new reality which God has made available to
people in Jesus Christ". (G-3.0200 a).
Respectfully submitted,
Rev. Barbara Dua
Mr. Joe Sayre

Heather Reichgott, who has created
this new blog for Voices of Sophia, introduces it:
After fifteen years of scholarship
and activism, Voices of Sophia presents a blog. Here, we present the
voices of feminist theologians of all stripes: scholars, clergy,
students, exiles, missionaries, workers, thinkers, artists, lovers
and devotees, from many parts of the world, all children of the God
in whose image women are made. .... This blog seeks to glorify God
through prayer, work, art, and intellectual reflection. Through
articles and ensuing discussion we hope to become an active and
thoughtful community. |
