Office of Theology and Worship Announces
Consultations on the Doctrine of the Trinity
The consultations are over. For one
scholarly reflection from a feminist perspective, click
here.
A note from the WebWeaver:
The first of these four planned consultations has
already taken place. You may want to pay attention to these
potentially significant discussions, and join in on one of them.
And if you do take part in
one, we'd like to hear your impressions!
Louisville, Kentucky:
The 212th General Assembly (2000) directed the Office of Theology and
Worship to "constitute a task force to study the doctrine of the
Trinity in Presbyterian theology and worship, with particular attention
to the need to recover the terms and images that refer to the being of
the persons of the Trinity."
As part of its initial efforts to fulfill this mandate, the Office of
Theology and Worship will hold open discussions in four locations around
the country (One of which has already been held.) so that interested
persons can help the Office identify issues and directions for study. In
each city there will be two sessions, one morning and one afternoon.
Participants can choose to come to the morning or the afternoon session.
No registration is required. Your presence and input in these
discussions are needed! If a session is in your area, or you know
someone in these areas, please make a special effort to attend.
The sessions will be led by Charles Wiley, Associate for Theology, with
one other staff member from the Office at each location.
At each site there will be two sessions: Session A 9:30-11:30 am;
Session B 1:00-3:00 pm

Voices of Sophia blog
Heather Reichgott, who has created
this new blog for Voices of Sophia, introduces it:
After fifteen years of scholarship
and activism, Voices of Sophia presents a blog. Here, we present the
voices of feminist theologians of all stripes: scholars, clergy,
students, exiles, missionaries, workers, thinkers, artists, lovers
and devotees, from many parts of the world, all children of the God
in whose image women are made. .... This blog seeks to glorify God
through prayer, work, art, and intellectual reflection. Through
articles and ensuing discussion we hope to become an active and
thoughtful community. |
